The Rhythm of Languages and the Harmony of Mixed Cultures
Having lived in different countries throughout my life, I began to notice something deeply magical. Across every border, humans are both strikingly unique and beautifully similar. We often look at cultural differences as boundaries, but what if they are actually notes in a global symphony?
When cultures meet, collide, and merge, they don’t lose their identity—they create a richer, deeper resonance. Over the years, I fell in love with the inherent beauty of human speech. Every language carries its own sacred geometry, its own pulse, its own melody. Before a word is even translated or understood intellectually, its sound is already music.
Across every era and culture, poetry has been the highest form of human expression—where words transcend their literal meaning to touch the soul. Every language carries its own sacred geometry, its own pulse, and its own melody. Long before a poem is translated, its sound is already pure music. You don’t always need to speak a language to feel its truth—you just have to listen with an open heart.
This philosophy brought about a curious question: Is it possible to bring poetry, sound, movement, and heritage from completely different corners of the world onto a single stage, allowing them to flow together like water?
I gathered an amazing team of beautiful human beings to bring this vision to life and create this special collaboration—and it is truly because of them that this performance became possible. Together, that shared curiosity became the heart of our upcoming performance, “Water Within.”
The Score of Language and Movement
This hybrid performance explores the meeting point of poetry, voice, and movement—exchanging thoughts, music, and poems across different languages.
A multilingual, multicultural performance where language itself becomes the score, each language introduces its own atmosphere, rhythm, and physicality, shaping the space in distinct ways. The poems do not remain separate; they intertwine into a living dialogue where the rhythm of poetry and the melody of voice transform directly into bodily movement.
Through this interplay of languages, voices, instruments, and bodies, the performance becomes a tapestry of cultures—an exploration of how words, sound, and movement converge into a collective conversation.
Water as a Companion, Rhythm, and Voice
In this performance, water is our central thread of connection. Each piece explores water in a different corner of the world, in a distinct role, and with a unique rhythm:
🇬🇪 Georgia: I will recite a powerful piece of contemporary Georgian poetry set on the banks of the roaring Mtkvari River, embodying its dynamic rhythm through voice and expressive dance. Here, water flows as a wild force of reflection and existential freedom—dissolving human borders and calling us to celebrate the music, passion, and togetherness of all cultures.
🇨🇳 China: A timeless masterpiece from the Tang Dynasty, “A Moonlit Night on the Spring River” (春江花月夜) by Zhang Ruoxue, bringing centuries of delicate heritage to the stage. Here, water acts as a mirror—a quiet, reflective surface merging river and sky beneath the moonlight.
🇰🇿 Kazakhstan: Rich, evocative poetry including “Burabay” by Saken Seifullin and “Tolqyn” (The Wave) by Magzhan Zhumabayev, woven together with graceful live movement. Water reveals its dual nature: the tranquil lakes of Burabay and the rolling, untamed power of the wave (Tolqyn).
🇳🇬 Nigeria: Vibrant, soul-stirring folk music that carries the ancient, rhythmic pulse of African oral tradition. Water here is life, movement, and the flow of community and ancestral memory.
🇷🇺 Russia: Throughout the entire journey, Evgenia Karpova will grace us with live violin music, weaving her own solo compositions into the poetic recitations. Her violin flows like a river through every story, bridging every language through the universal voice of strings.
Step into the Flow
Can ancient epics, classical Chinese verses, Kazakh movement, African folk rhythms, and expressive dance exist side by side? Can movement become truly inseparable from words?
We invite you to step into this flow and experience the harmony within.
